PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County Manager Willy McKain announced today that the County has presented its second Exemplary Employee Award to Ms. Gina Englert, a records specialist in the Division of Elections, Department of Administrative Services, and a member of the County’s Green Team.
“It’s an honor to recognize our employees who provide exceptional service to our county and residents, particularly when that recognition is because the employee helps us be more efficient and productive,” said County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “Ms. Gina Englert has been a huge asset to our County’s sustainability efforts and has championed numerous efforts that have made our county more energy efficient. She leads by example and we are grateful for her dedication and work.”
Ms. Englert was nominated by her husband, as well as the County’s Sustainability Manager, Jeaneen Zappa. As part of the Allegheny County Green Team, Gina managed to bring environmental awareness into day to day operations in Elections, while also promoting energy conservation awareness and water conservation efforts. She advocated the involvement of employees in Car Free Fridays and the National Bike Challenge, and lobbied employees to sign up for the Breathe Project’s air quality commitments and assisting with the Green Building Competition.
“I truly believe that our employees are the County’s greatest asset,” said County Manager McKain. “We have been blessed to have so many exceptional nominations for this award, and look forward to receive even more. Ms. Englert has involved herself in the County and its efforts, well above and beyond what is expected of her. We are grateful for her service.”
Ms. Englert was surprised at her workplace this morning where it was announced that she was a winner of the Exemplary Employee Award. She was presented with a joint County proclamation from the County Executive and County Council, and was also awarded an Allegheny County Parks family pool pass for the 2013 Swimming Season. The Exemplary Employee Award will be presented periodically throughout the year in recognition of exceptional achievements by a county employee or employee group. Nominations can be submitted in writing or online at http://www.alleghenycounty.us/manager/award.aspx.
