PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Special Events Office today invited all dogs, dog owners and dog lovers to the Dog Day Festival from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, at the Hartwood Amphitheater.
The event will feature information and demonstrations by a number of groups, including Dog Watch, Going Home Greyhound, Hello Bully, the Great Pyrenees Club, and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s canines. The Animal Rescue League will be on hand with puppies available for adoption.
Owners may have photos taken with their pets or get a special doggy caricature. A dog nutritionist will offer advice and recommendations, and a dog translator and dog fortuneteller/psychic will offer laughs and entertainment. Other activities include a canine kissing contest and dog and master look-alike competition.
There will be free giveaways of dog scarves, tennis balls, Frisbees and PETCO coupons while supplies last. A doggy prize basket will also be raffled to benefit the Animal Rescue League.
Hartwood Park is home to one of Allegheny County’s off-leash dog areas. The others are located in North Park, South Park and White Oak Park.
