Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma or its equivalent AND one (1) year of office experience to include data entry. Applicants with understanding of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and mapping are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Position Summary:
The Department of Public Works uses Cityworks, a GIS-based work management application for Public Works enabling users to create and track service requests and work orders, inspections, tests, work tasks, resources (labor, materials and equipment) and reports associated with County-owned and/or maintained infrastructure (roads, bridges, buildings, parks). The Call Center Clerk is responsible for coordinating and accurately documenting data in Cityworks, answering calls in a timely and professional manner, communicating information to the appropriate parties, and ensuring work orders are followed through to completion. In addition, the Call Center Clerk will perform the primary clerical and administrative functions of the Work Management/Call Center.
Duties:
- Input work orders into Cityworks software system from district and park daily work assignments;
- Input purchase orders into Cityworks software system;
- Complete service request forms in Cityworks software system;
- Prepare correspondence and documents (reports, memos, work orders, etc.);
- Finalize work orders in Cityworks software system as work assignments are completed in the field;
- Answer telephones;
- Provide customer service assistance;
- Assist the public by directing questions regarding Public Works to appropriate staff;
- Operate standard office equipment (photocopier, fax machine, etc.);
- Maintain filing systems;
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Data entry procedures and related office practices
- Personal computer features and functions
- Principles and practices of customer service
Ability to:
- Accurately and promptly enter data into a personal computer
- Proofread and verify data
- Work under general supervision; follow oral and written instructions
- Maintain accurate records
- Learn to use new computer software as required
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
Residency: Must become a resident of Allegheny County within one (1) year of appointment.
Veteran's Preference: Will be awarded to eligible candidates.
